Product Description
The LANSY-Shrimp BLACK FLAKE is a completely balanced nutritional package for the post-larval stages of all cultured shrimp species. When crumbled and sieved into the appropriate size, the ake can be fed to shrimp in any post-larval stage, either as a stand-alone diet or in combination with other INVE Aquaculture products.
The formulation offers improved cost efficiency and allows a more predictable yield through reduced dependency on traditional live feeds of variable cost and quality, replacing up to 60% of the traditionally required Artemia. BLACK FLAKE enhances post-larval pigmentation and creates a healthy and dark tank environment that reduces stress levels of the animals.
LANSY-Shrimp BLACK FLAKE is formulated with premium marine protein and marine oil sources, vitamins (stable source of vitamin C), carotenoids and attractants for optimal nutrition and digestibility. Larval condition is boosted by the inclusion of a mixture of selected immunostimulants. Food-grade additives ensure intense dark pigmentation of the post-larvae.
Features & Benefits

- CAN BE SIEVED WITHOUT LOSS INTO THE DESIRED PARTICLE SIZES FOR THE DIFFERENT POST-LARVAL STAGES
Use & Storage
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Preparation
Crumble the flakes and rub through a filter screen to obtain the desired particle size. Apply the flake fragments directly to the culture tank.

From PL11 onwards: increase feed by 5-7% per day. Use a 600 µm sieve for post-larvae
larger than PL15.
1 Artemia nauplii per post-larva per day
2 gram cysts per million post-larvae per day (assumed hatching: 200,000 nauplii per g cysts)
NOTES
- Adapt to local prevailing conditions (e.g. rearing system, temperature, etc.).
- Split the daily required amount over di erent rations to optimize continuous feed availability in the water column.
- Spread evenly over the water surface.
- Best feeding practices are based on frequent visual observations of the animals (fullness of the gut, prevalence of cannibalism) and tank conditions (water quality).
PRODUCT PERFORMANCE
LANSY-Shrimp BLACK FLAKE has been successfully tested in laboratory scale trials as well as in commercial scale culture runs, with the commonly cultured marine shrimp species.
The table below describes the survival, individual dry weight and tank biomass of L. vannamei (PL10) fed live Artemia (live feed) and different flakes offered as Artemia replacement diets (40% substitution): a competitor flake and LANSY Shrimp BLACK FLAKE.
Dietary treatment | Survival (%) | Weight (µg) | Biomass (g/MT) |
---|---|---|---|
Live feed | 70.6 | 490 | 199 |
Competitor flake | 63.1 | 470 | 173 |
LANSY-Shrimp BLACK FLAKE | 73.8 | 520 | 209 |
